“This planet we show you here has resisted many interventions, to the degree that soon it will self-destruct, as it is on a collision course with insanity.”
“Why me? It the last thing I want to do, to leave my home. And you give me a destination of chaos.
“Inarra, you are one of us. Our feeling—our thought—is that you can do the seeding best. Because of your past. But it is your choice.”
“Stars and planets die all the time. It has nothing to do with me.
“If this planet self-destructs, the impact on the map of the universe is slight. But spiritually–it will be an infinite loss that will reach in its vibrations to us. No life form is expendable. You were born knowing this.”
“I see.”
“You won’t be alone. Enaris will join you later. You both will—if you agree—attend to the western hemisphere. Others will take care of the eastern and southernmost hemispheres. All of you have constant available contact with us here. We are vibration. With a single thought you are back in your home at any instant, on and off at your will. However, it will be more useful to stay for extended periods in the planet’s version of space and time to accomplish the seeding. The time span required would be entirely up to you.
Inarra about earth, naming it and why it is what it is
Our feeling is that there are three periods most exigent in their terms—the Neolithic, the Renaissance, and the 18th century both in Europe and North America. You can disagree and choose other times. We believe these are of special concern: early America, time of King Arthur–its legend, 30,000 years BCE, Celtic Druids, Medieval winter, Pangaea, and England just before the Vikings, 20th century. Or add them in to the three. Again it is your choice.”
“What am I seeding this time?”
“Ah, Inarra, that is a good question. Travel to different time periods on the planet Earth, well-known as a training ground for overcoming fear. In each period–it does not have to be chronological from her POV, of course, plant a seed of a thought or event that changes their history. These will all combine eventually and lead into the current trajectory of the planet, but altering its self-destruct forever. It is precarious. The need to kill is and has been one of main characteristics of this planet, part of its innate and inherent progress, and one reason it has been such a useful training ground. Deleting that violent tendency will alter the course of its civilization and it will cease to be a threat. Yet done poorly, it will also cease to be creative, its best aspect at all levels. Even death can be creative, the others remind her. But it is not the outcome that will save this small planet from itself.”
“This interference takes away their free will,” she says to the others.
“That is not something we need concern ourselves with. You won’t be requiring them to do anything. They are still free to choose their actions. But you will be giving them an alternative by changing the course of things. If they go repeat the same behavior yet again, which is perfectly then we let go. We let them self-destruct. That is not what we want, but we won’t know until the seeding and eventual combining are done.”
Again Inarra asks “I still don’t understand. Why me?”
“Because,” the others answer, “we have studied that world, as you will now. You have the most experience as a female entity. You do not look like these people, or speak like them, but you will once you arrive–you know how to manage the transformations. You understand, as we do, all possible genders, but you also are a master of shapeshifting in the female form. As it happens, on this planet a woman, their female version, can move more easily unnoticed. Her gender is not seen as vital to their advance, in essence. It is a heavily male ethos, which is part of the reason they are on their path of self-destruction. There is no balance.”
“So my work is to restore balance?”
“No. It is to ensure the balance is free to exist. How long it lasts is an unknown.”
“So all of this could be for nothing?”
“All of this is creative. That is the way of everything. We are simply offering a new choreography to a small planet.”
“A new way of seeing.”
“No. They have wise Speakers all through their ages of time who have recognized what has to be done. Not a new way of seeing. A new way of being willing to see.”
“I can refuse this.”
“Of course.”
“And what about my past? What has that to do with this? I have no past or future. None of us do.”
“You lived on earth once. Before you came home. We have not. In one of these lives you choose, you will see yourself again. It will assist your journey.”
Inarra looked out into the black depths of galaxies before her.
“How far?”
“1000 light years. Invisible to us here.”
“They could discover me, attack me.”
“Yes. Or welcome you. No two of them are like except when they gather in large numbers. Nothing is predictable. But one thing is certain. They can never keep you there. They have no control over you, no more than they have over each other, except through fear. And fear is something you do not possess.”
Inarra smiled. “True. It is an earth lesson. It only exists there.” She feels sudden curiosity. “What if in their time and space I absorb it temporarily?”
“It is something you must watch for, and prevent. But of course, you can always leave on the instant.”
“If I remember I can. If the life form I inhabit does not forget.”
“It won’t. But you could become attached to it. That is the only danger. That is why we send you and Enaris together. You each observe that danger in the other.”
“Why can’t we do this from here!”
“It must be done within their time and space dimensions. They would not see us, nor in any way perceive our vibrations, which are at a much higher frequency than most of them are using, though they have the capacity. That, too, is a characteristic of their planet.”
“It is not a welcoming place.”
“No. That is why you are going to do the seeding. If that is what you decide.”
Inarra looked out again at the vast space, and felt the warmth and camaraderie of where she was.
“I will miss you.”
“In our terms, it will be as if you never left. There is no time, remember?”
“If that is so, how can I remember anything?”
“That is another reason we chose you. We love your humor. It will assist you a great deal. So you agree?”
“Against all personal inclination, yes, I agree.”
The speaker gestured, making a wide sweep before them all. A threshold appeared, a
“The way into Earth?”
“And the way out. A path that is never closed. Always yours.”
Inarra stepped across the threshold and disappeared.
